On Friday Year 2 had a visit from Andy and Glenn from Falklands Conservation to prepare us for our visit to Kidney Island. We learnt about the animals we may see on and around the island, why Kidney Island is an important and special place and how to keep us safe when we are visiting. Andy and Glenn are going to join us on our visit – we hope the weather is good, fingers crossed!
On Wednesday 29th September, the Year 2 children ventured out to the Cape Pembroke peninsula by coach. When we got there we split into different groups to undertake a series of activities which included carefully studying the exterior of the lighthouse and creating ‘in the field’ sketches, discovering the fascinating history of the lighthouse and finding historical evidence and creating a collaborative pebble lighthouse. Some of us were very lucky to also see seals in the water and a friendly seal sat in the tussac grass waved his flippers at us!
